Amy Kuritar Lohrmann Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Amy Kuritar Lohrmann graduated from UCF in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She was an exceptional student who was an active member of Lambda Alpha Epsilon.
After graduating from UCF, Amy worked for the Seminole County Probation Office for three years as a probation officer. She was respected and liked by her colleagues and was considered an integral part of the office.
In 2001, Amy was tragically killed by her husband in a domestic violence incident that ended in a murder-suicide. Her parents, Robert and Renee Kuritar, established this scholarship in her memory in 2002.

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship awards to students at the University of Central Florida in the College of Community Innovation and Education, majoring in criminal justice interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
This scholarship is an opportunity to create more awareness for domestic violence prevention through law enforcement support and to assist criminal justice students interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

This scholarship supports undergraduate students in the College of Community Innovation and Education majoring in Criminal Justice.

Recipients will be selected based on the following established criteria:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Criminal Justice
  • Must be junior or senior
  • Must have cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Must provide a brief description of professional goals and current involvement of extracurricular activities and community service
  • Preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate involvement in clubs and organizations, volunteer leadership positions, and community service.

*The scholarship may be used to pay for tuition, textbooks, fees, and any other items included in the cost of attendance published annually by the University.
