Andrew Lynch Criminal Defense Scholarship

Andrew R. Lynch discovered his calling as a criminal defense attorney when a close family member was investigated, arrested and tried for a felony drug charge. Mr. Lynch witnessed the devastating effects that a criminal charge can have on the accused and their family. This experience inspired him to pursue his legal education and to defend individuals against criminal accusations. To that end, we are looking for a student whose education, career and/or volunteer goals are geared toward the same values of helping other and their community.

This scholarship is open to any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional program in the United States. This includes accredited community college students as well as high school seniors and students who possess a GED who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited program.
The scholarship applicant must be able to demonstrate their commitment towards helping the accused with a clear plan for how they are going to do this after they have completed their formal education.
All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above.
Answer the following questions in an essay of 1,000 words or less:
What experience most inspired you to want to help people who are accused of crimes?
What is the particular population of people you want to help and/or area of the law that you want to uphold?
What are your work/career goals and how is your education going to help you to realize these goals to the extent that you will be able to help people who are accused of crimes?
