Patricia T. Barnes Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established by her son, James T. Barnes, this scholarship honors the memory of Patricia T. Barnes. It’s designed to benefit students specializing in Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Recipient Criteria:
At the time the scholarship is disbursed, the student:
Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the School of Social Work
Must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA
Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Preference will be given to applicants who have taken at least one course in the Aging Studies Certificate or Minor programs
Preference will be given to applicants specializing in Alzheimer’s or Dementia
The student must provide a brief essay (one page, double-spaced, 12-point font) outlining career and educational goals as well as an interest in dementia or working with older adults.
