Dr. Kenneth E. "Pete" Fisher Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Kenneth E. “Pete” Fisher’s contributions while at FTU/UCF include Resident Instructor, U.S. Army Veteran, Dean of Men, and helping to create/start the UCF Counseling and Testing Center, Pete’s life centered on helping others, particularly students. In these many roles, as well as a mentor through the UCF Peer Advisor Program he created, or as a friend and sponsor in the Greek Community through, or as a leader to elevate the professionalism and commitment of those in the counseling profession, a person will always see and hear about Pete’s kindness and love. Comments about Pete include, “…he could really captivate…he understood the human psyche…”, to “…he is probably the most incredibly sensitive, and caring individuals I have ever known….”, to “there are so many students he helped over the years. He was like a brain surgeon without surgical tools and he could fix broken hearts…. This scholarship is designed to remember Pete by supporting a student who is looking to work in the field of education and/or counseling, focusing on those traits that were important to Pete.

The purpose of this Fund is to provide awards to full-time and part-time students admitted to, enrolled in, or accepted as, a student in the master’s or Ph.D. in Counselor Education program in the College.

This scholarship supports graduate students in the College of Community Innovation and Education.

Recipients will be selected based on the following established criteria:

  • Must be a full-time or part-time student.
  • Must be in the Master’s or Ph.D. program in Counselor Education.
  • Must have a 3.5 GPA
  • Must submit a letter which includes your professional achievements in the field and a statement on the reasons for pursuing a degree in counseling
  • Preference will be given to applicants who were honorably discharged from any of the six (6) branches of the United States Armed Forces or to applicants who are a member of one of the University’s Greek Organizations

The scholarship may be used to pay for tuition, textbooks, fees, and any other items included in the cost of attendance published annually by the University
