Lumentum Endowed Scholarship

Criteria:
Student must be enrolled in either the doctoral, master’s program, or Photonic Science and Engineering bachelor’s program in the College of Optics and Photonics.

Preference for students who:

  • Have active membership in an approved SDES-administered organization open to all whose mission seeks to advance the needs of underrepresented and/or marginalized groups.
  • Have active membership in an organization whose mission is to advance in a predominantly female, SDES-administered organization (i.e. Women in Optics
    and Photonics)
  • Returning students or students who have had a gap in their education and students who share a varied cultural perspective to enhance the education of other students and the excellence of the University.

The scholarship may be used to pay for tuition, textbooks, fees, and any other items included in the Cost of Attendance (https://www.ucf.edu/financial-aid/cost/) published annually by the University. The scholarship may have the option to be renewed.

  1. Do you have a gap period in your studies?
    • Are you a returning student who has had a gap in your education? (For this purpose, a gap can be as little as 1 semester where you did not take any college courses at UCF or elsewhere.)
    • If you answered yes to the previous question, are you a student who can share a varied cultural perspective to enhance the education of other students and the excellence of the University?
    • If you answered yes to the previous question, please explain how your varied cultural perspective will enhance the education of other students and the excellence of the University?
  2. SDES-administered organizations
    • Are you in an approved SDES-administered organization open to all whose mission seeks to advance the needs of underrepresented and/or marginalized groups?
    • Do you have an active membership in an SDES-administered organization whose mission is to advance in a predominantly female field?
    • If you answered Yes to any of the questions above, please provide proof of membership by uploading a letter on letterhead from the student organization or from the UCF unit in which the faculty advisor is contained confirming your active membership.
