Betty W. Kernodle, RRA Scholarship Fund

Betty W. Kernodle was a well-respected health information management professional in the Central Florida community. This scholarship was established in her honor by the Central Florida Health Information Management Association.

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship awards to students at the University of Central Florida in the College of Community Innovation

This scholarship supports undergraduate students in the College of Community Innovation and Education.

Recipients will be selected based on the following established criteria:

• Must be enrolled as full-time or part-time undergraduate student, entering their senior year, in the Health Informatics and Information Management BS program.
• Preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
• Must have an overall 2.8 GPA and 3.3 major GPA
• Must provide a current resume
• Must provide two (2) letters of reference with one letter of reference from each of the following: Health Information Management faculty member
– This letter should emphasize leadership qualities
– Any other previous instructor or previous/present employer
– Must submit 250-word essay commenting on: (1) career path for the next five years, and (2) perception of the future of Health Information Management
