David Benjamin Schaefer Memorial Endowed Scholarship

David Schaefer was born on June 2, 1988, and died on October 4, 2010, at the age of 22 from injuries sustained in a car accident, He is survived by his parents, Mark and Ellen Schaefer, and his brother Matthew. Daivd was a senior at UCF’s Rosen College working toward his bright future in the hospitality industry. David lived his life with passion and was gifted, handsome, funny, caring, a talented guitar player, as well as an incredible golfer. David grew up in Orlando and was a graduate of Boone High School. He enjoyed bringing joy to his friends and family, as well as those he served in the hospitality industry.

This scholarship supports undergraduate students in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management.
Recipients will be selected based on the following established criteria:

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management.
  • Must have a commitment to the scholarship and ideals of David Benjamin Schaefer, enthusiasm for the hospitality industry, campus involvement, and volunteer activities.
  • Must have a minimum Cumulative 3.0 GPA or 3.25 GPA from high school for incoming freshman
  • Preference given to students who graduated from high school in Orange or Seminole County
  • Preference given to students in financial need based upon guidelines set forth in the Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The scholarship may be used to pay for tuition, textbooks, fees, and any other items included in the cost of education.
