John Lewis Legacy of Courage Scholarship (Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl)

Purpose:
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide scholarship support to students at the University.

Criteria:

  • Applicant(s) must be from Title 1 school within the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) system. The nine (9) APS Title 1 high schools include: BEST Academy, Carver H.S., Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Douglass H.S., Jackson H.S., Mays H.S., South Atlanta H.S., Therrell H.S. and Washington H.S.
  • If no student is identified from the APS in a given semester or academic year, then the scholarship can be made available second to students from any Title 1 high school in the metro Atlanta area as determined by the Metropolitan Statistical Area definition, and then third to any student from (1) Grady H.S. or North Atlanta H.S., or two (2) and Title 1 high school in the state of Georgia.
  • If no students are identified from any of these filters, then the benefit can be used for other Title 1 high school students as determined by the Foundation.
  • In the event that more than one student qualifies for a single award in the same year or semester, preference shall be given to one student based on academic merit.
  • This Scholarship may be renewed pursuant to University policy for awarding scholarships.

Definitions:

Title I is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to school districts and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families.

To determine if your school is Title 1 Eligible, please search by name and/or address on: https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/. Title 1 Eligibility will be listed in the School Details section. We strongly encourage to complete this search before applying to confirm eligibility.

  • Note: Application should be completed to best of ability and should be completed following the guidelines set forth in the Student Code of Conduct. https://scai.sdes.ucf.edu/student-rules-of-conduct/. If an applicant intentionally falsifies information, this may revoke applicant’s eligibility for ALL internal scholarships listed on A2O.

Limitations:
This Scholarship cannot pay over a student’s Cost of Attendance (COA). COA is the estimated amount it will cost a student to attend the university. Additional information about COA can be found at https://www.ucf.edu/financial-aid/cost/.

Renewable:
Yes. Applicant may receive the award in successive semesters until graduation as long as eligibility is maintained and an A2O application is completed each year of renewal eligibility.
