For Your Future - The Nidia Jimenez, First Generation Engineer Scholarship Fund
Criteria:
- Applicant(s) must be a first-generation college student.
- Preference will be given to student(s) in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Scholarships considered for the First Generation Matching Grant Program may change every year. If the scholarship is selected to be a part of the First Generation Matching Grant Program, applicants will be evaluated based on additional state criteria, including, but not limited to:
- Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 UCF credit hours per Fall and/or Spring as a degree-seeking undergraduate student.
- Applicant must be a Florida Resident and U.S Citizen or eligible Non-Citizen.
- Applicant must be seeking their first bachelor’s degree.
- Applicant must be considered as ‘First Generation’, neither of the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have earned a college degree at the baccalaureate level or higher.
- Applicant must have earned a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- Applicant must have completed a current-year, error-free FAFSA.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

- Applicant must not have defaulted on or owe a refund to any previous aid program.
- Applicant must have attempted hours no greater than 132 credit hours.
Definitions:
- Students whose parents completed a college degree abroad would not be considered First Generation students.
- Transient or study abroad hours may not be considered.
Limitations:
This Scholarship cannot pay over the student’s Cost of Attendance (COA). COA is the estimated amount it will cost a student to attend the university. Additional information about COA can be found at: https://www.ucf.edu/financial-aid/cost/.
