Westinghouse Endowed First Generation Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Applicant(s) must be enrolled at the University as a full-time undergraduate student.
  • Recipient(s) must meet the State of Florida definition of being a First-Generation student. As defined by the Florida Department of Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance, “a student is considered ‘first generation’ if neither of the student’s parents earned a college degree at the baccalaureate level or higher.’”
  • Recipients can not have previously received a baccalaureate degree.
  • Recpients must have met the eligibility requirements for demonstrated financial need by submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Scholarships considered for the First Generation Matching Grant Program may change every year. If the scholarship is selected to be a part of the First Generation Matching Grant Program, students must meet the following additional criteria:

  • Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Have a complete, error-free FAFSA showing financial need for the current aid year.
  • Be considered a “First Generation” student (neither parent has earned a bachelor’s degree or higher).
  • Be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (https://www.ucf.edu/financial-aid/policies/satisfactory-academic-progress/).
  • Not have defaulted on or owe a refund to any prior aid program.
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at UCF each Fall and/or Spring as a degree-seeking undergraduate student.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Have attempted no more than 132 credit hours.

Limitations:
This Scholarship can pay over the student’s Cost of Attendance (COA). COA is the estimated amount it will cost a student to attend the university. Additional information about COA can be found at: https://www.ucf.edu/financial-aid/cost/.
