Marlene Richmond Memorial Quasi-Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded this upcoming Fall semester.
Established in 2004, this scholarship honors the memory of Marlene Richmond, ‘75, and her contributions to the field of social work. After completing her bachelor’s degree in social work, Richmond established herself as a social worker for the Department of Children and Families. She worked in various positions in her time with the department ranging from the daycare licensing administrator to curator of new foster homes. In her spare time, Richmond devoted countless hours to the School of Social Work. She served on the school’s advisory committee, supervised students as a field instructor and taught as an adjunct faculty member. Richmond died at the age of 50 in 2002. This scholarship was formed in 2004 by a group of social work faculty. Over the years, proceeds from a number of continuing education workshops specific to social work alumni and the local social work community have supported this scholarship fund.
