The Taking Flight Foundation Scholarship Fund

Criteria:

  • Applicant(s) must be an in-state student.
  • Applicant(s) must live on-campus or University affiliated housing.
  • Applicant(s) must demonstrate financial need based upon guidelines set forth in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Applicant(s) must be a first-time in college freshman
  • Preference will be given to applicants who self-identify as coming from a single-parent home as demonstrated by a brief essay addressing the following prompt: What life lessons have you learned growing up in a single-parent home, and how have those lessons influenced who you are and who you’d like to become?

Limitations:
This Scholarship can pay over a student’s Cost of Attendance (COA). COA is the estimated amount it will cost a student to attend the university. Financial Need is the difference between a student’s Cost of Attendance (COA) and a student’s Student Aid Index (SAI). Please note that due to size of award, recipient(s) may see reduction or cancellation of offered loans, state grants, institutional scholarships, etc. dependent on award eligibility. Pell grant and Bright Futures Scholarship can still be received with this award. Recipient(s) can reach out to contact listed below to inquire on how this award will impact financial aid package.

Renewable:
Yes. This Scholarship may be awarded to the same student in successive semesters until graduation, provided funds are available, the recipient(s) has earned at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA), and recipient submits an A2O application each year of eligibility.
