Su-I Hou Global Health Management and Informatics Endowed Scholarship

Su-I Hou is a professor and founding director of the School of Global Health Management & Informatics (SGHMI). Professor Hou is also the Founding Program Director of UCF’s Taiwan Study Abroad Program on Asian Culture, Healthcare and Aging Society. Throughout her over 20 years academic career, Hou has been a fearless advocate to promote “globally minded, locally engaged” leaders and scholars in the healthcare industry, and support career and professional development in diverse ways. This scholarship aims to encourage global and inter-cultural learning and exchange among SGHMI students so they can better develop global health competencies and perspectives, as well as inter-cultural appreciation and communication skills. Professor Hou encourages SGHMI students to become global citizens and leaders. Some potential examples of the global health education and exchange activities include health-related study abroad programs, inter-cultural exchange, global health internship programs, etc. This endowed scholarship was established in 2020.

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship awards to students at the University of Central Florida in the College of Community Innovation.

This scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Community Innovation and Education.

Recipients will be selected based on the following established criteria:

  • Must be studying Health Management and Informatics
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Must write a one-page (double-spaced) essay on your planned global health learning, exchange, or experience, and how that global health exposure and activities would help your professional and career goals.

This scholarship, to the extent funds are available, may be used to pay for tuition, textbooks, fees, study abroad program fees, airline fees and any other items included in the cost of education published annually by the University.
