The Jim and Valeria Shapiro Italian Studies
Made possible through the generous support of Jim and Valeria Shapiro, this award is available to students who have declared a Minor in Italian and plan to participate in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures’ Study Abroad program in Italy.
This scholarship supports students in the College of Arts and Humanities
Recipients will be selected based on the following established criteria:
• Must have a 3.0 GPA and 3.2 in Italian
• Must have declared a minor in Italian
• Must submit a one-page essay describing why you would like to study in Italy and how this experience will enhance your academic goals.
• Preference will be given to students who have taken at least two 3000 level Italian courses before receiving the scholarship.
• Preference will be given to students with financial need and show general merit
This award is intended to help cover expenses for the Study Abroad program in Italy, sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
