Light the Way Endowed Scholarship for Social Work

This scholarship will be awarded this upcoming Fall semester.

Along with his wife, Maria, Daniel Voss (‘74) established this scholarship for students in the UCF College of Nursing and the School of Social Work. The Vosses believe that nurses and social workers “light the way” for patients, clients and the community.

Recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be enrolled as an undergraduate student majoring in social work
  • Applicant must be enrolled as a junior or senior
  • Applicant must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Applicant must provide a brief essay (not to exceed two pages) on how planning to help “light the way” for others as progressing through life.
    All essays will be reviewed by the college scholarship committees. In addition, recipients’ essays might be shared with donors.

Preference, in order of priority, is given to:

  • A student who, based on the selection committee’s evaluation of the essay and knowledge of the candidate, best exemplifies the practice of selfless service to others at work, in school, or in the community
  • A student who is involved with community outreach in under-served populations
  • A first-generation college student
