Mentor of the Year Award

Selection Criteria

The intent of the Mentor of the Year Award is to recognize those who show excellence in a wide variety of mentoring arenas. The nominee should demonstrate outstanding achievement in some or all of the following areas:

Assisting Research and Publication

  • Offers sound academic advice towards research and publishing
  • Provides direction in Honor’s thesis or graduate thesis or dissertation work
  • Lends guidance in non-thesis research endeavors
  • Assists in developing research papers and publications

Interpersonal and Motivational Skills

  • Serves as a beneficial role model
  • Available and approachable
  • Established good rapport with students
  • Motivates and excites students
  • Listens patiently, nurtures self-sufficiency, and encourages feedback
  • Maintains and communicates the highest ethical standards.

Promoting Career Development

  • Imparts informed advice relating to career searchers
  • Prepares students for interviews and serves as a resource in CV/resume preparation
  • Establishes opportunities for networking and professional connections
  • Supports students’ post-graduation progress and development.

Eligibility Information:

  • Nominee must currently be a Mentor in a formal UCF mentoring program.
  • The Nominating Student must currently be a Mentee in a formal UCF mentoring program.
  • The Nominating Student must be currently enrolled full-time at the University of Central Florida and have at least ONE semester remaining before graduation.

Instructions:

  • Complete the following form.
  • Attach your written nomination essay.
  • Submit this form and your written nomination by Monday, January 20, 2025 at 5:00 pm.
  • There will be no deadline extensions, but early submissions are preferred.
