Natural Disaster Relief Scholarship
Who is Eligible?
Candidates for the Natural Disaster Relief Scholarship must meet each of the following criteria:
- They and/or their immediate family were affected by a natural disaster within the United States in the last 10 years. Eligible natural disasters include hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, earthquakes, etc.
- They are an undergraduate, graduate, or law student attending school at an accredited school within the United States in the current or upcoming semester.
- They are at least 17 years of age.
- They are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
What Are the Application Requirements?
- Applicants must submit contact information, details about the school they will be attending in the upcoming semester, and other basic information.
- To demonstrate eligibility, an applicant must provide proof of enrollment or acceptance at an accredited school within the United States, which may include: a letter of enrollment, an acceptance letter, a class schedule, or an unofficial transcript. We also ask each candidate to submit a headshot that we will use in our winner announcements.
Finally, each applicant must submit a video of 3 to 5 minutes in length answering the following prompt:
Discuss how you and your family were affected by a specific natural disaster in your area. Using video or pictures, elaborate on how the natural disaster impacted your life as a whole, what effects you still see today, and how this scholarship would help you.
How Are Applications Evaluated?
Our scholarship team will rank each application based on the following factors:
- Does the student meet all eligibility and application requirements?
- Does the video essay answer the prompt in a well-structured and organized manner?
- Did the student provide an authentic and personal story?
- Award
