American Legion Department of Florida Scholarship

Eligibility:

• A U.S. Citizen or permanent Florida resident.
• A student in an accredited Florida nursing/medical school or nursing/medical program.
• Entering their second year of study in an accredited Florida medical school.

Nomination Packet must include:

• A nomination letter from the school’s dean or the dean’s designate discussing the nominee’s:
  • Leadership abilities
  • Excellent academic achievement through the first year of nursing school
  • Awards and honors, special research projects, and extracurricular activities, especially those exhibiting leadership abilities.
• A letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
• A personal statement by the nominee which does not exceed 250 words, discussing their motivation for pursuing a nursing career and how they anticipate working to improve the health care of the community in which they live.
• A curriculum vitae (CV) for the nominee which clearly indicates contact information.

Must be postmarked April 1, 2026 to be considered. Applications should be mailed to:
