Light the Way Nursing Endowed Scholarship
• Applicant must be enrolled at the University as a full-time or part time (2 courses minimum) undergraduate student in the College of Nursing or Social Work program in the College of Health and Public Affairs.
• Applicant must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA
One new Scholarship will be awarded annually and paid on a semester basis for a maximum of four semesters, as long as the recipient maintains a GPA of 3.0 and is enrolled in at least two courses in his/her major as described below. A scholarship recipient may not reapply for the award after four semesters. A recipient whose GPA falls below 3.0 for one semester becomes ineligible to receive his/her scholarship for the following semester but may reinstitute it by bringing the GPA back to 3.0 within a period of 2 years.
• Applicant must be a junior or senior accepted into the College of Nursing program or a BSW student in the Social Work program in the College of Health and Public Affairs.
• To be eligible, the student must be in financial need according to FAFSA policy.
Preference, in order of priority, is given to:
1. A student who, based on the selection committee’s evaluation of the essay and knowledge of the candidate, best exemplifies the practice of Lighting the Way for others through selfless service.
2. A student who is involved with community outreach in underserved populations.
3. First-generation college student
