Criteria from external site:
- This Scholarship is open to both graduate/law students and undergraduate students seeking to go to law school in the future. All applicants must be actively enrolled in a U.S. undergraduate, graduate, or law school program.

ESSAY TOPIC:
Different states have different laws regarding the maximum amount that can be awarded from tort claims.
To what extent, if any, should settlement awards be capped in personal injury cases? Is there a compromise that can be reached between punitive damages and the defendant’s economic wellbeing, or should an injury’s severity be the only factor when determining a settlement award?
