The Law Office of George J. Skuros Justice in Family Law Scholarship

Who is Eligible to Apply?
To apply for the Justice in Family Law Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or J.D. program at a U.S. college or university for Fall 2026
  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are a U.S. citizen
  • You have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5

Application Instructions

  • Your application should include an essay of 500-1,500 words in response to the prompt listed below. Essays must be submitted as a PDF file and include at least one citation.
    • Choose a recent development or reform in family law. Analyze its potential impact on families and legal practitioners, and explain whether you believe it represents progress.
  • In addition to your essay, we ask that you submit an academic transcript, and contact information including your address, phone number, and email address.

Judging Criteria
Our team will review all applications and select a scholarship recipient using the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated passion for the practice and betterment of family law
  • Originality, thoughtfulness, and writing quality of the essay
  • Essay meets all requirements including PDF format, citations, and structure

We will notify the Fall 2026 recipient via email by July 1, 2026, and send the award to the financial aid office at the recipient’s school. By applying for the scholarship, you consent that if you are selected, your name, essay, and photograph may be used on our website and in other marketing materials.
