2. Essay (Minimum 1,000 Words)
The 2025–2026 King Solomon Award Scholarship essay is based on Proverbs 22. Applicants are required to submit a minimum 1,000-word narrative essay.
Your essay should tell the story of an individual in your life who best exemplifies the character and wisdom reflected in this proverb. This may be a parent, mentor, role model, or even someone who failed to follow its guidance—provided you reflect on the lessons learned from that experience.
Focus on storytelling and personal reflection. Describe the situation, the individual’s actions, and, most importantly,* what you gained or learned* from this experience. Choose one central theme or lesson and develop it thoughtfully throughout your essay.
Please note: Do not provide a verse-by-verse or detailed explanation of Proverbs 22. The emphasis should be on personal insight and application rather than interpretation.
3. Audio Component
Applicants must submit an audio recording of themselves reading their essay.
4. Transcripts
5. Letters of Recommendation (Minimum 2 letters)
Applicants must submit letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to their academic performance, character, or leadership abilities (e.g., teachers, professors, school staff, or mentors). Family members are not permitted to serve as recommenders. These letters should provide insight into the applicant’s strengths, potential, and readiness for college-level scholarship opportunities.
