HIMSS Central and North Florida Chapter Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship will provide funds to a student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the healthcare information management field or related healthcare industry fields of study including but not limited to biomedical engineering, healthcare management, information technology. The funds are intended to be used to support the recipient’s educational and career goals.

Amount: $5000.00

Date: the chapter year 2021-2022

Award Date: annual CNFL HIMSS Conference


  • 3.0 GPA (semester prior to submission)
  • In good academic standing with an affiliated school
  • Attend a HIMSS-affiliated university or college
  • A current undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program
  • Pursuing a degree in;
    • Health Information Management (HIM)
    • Computer science
    • Information technology
    • Informatics
    • Biomedical engineering
    • Management systems
    • Operations research
    • Industrial engineering
    • Quantitative studies

A current member of a HIMSS Chapter/organization and be located within the region of the chapter presenting the award. (HIMSS Membership Number Required)

  • write a 500–1000 word paper explaining what obtaining this scholarship would mean to you and how you plan on advancing your career in Health Information Management or related Healthcare Industry
  • A resume
  • 2 letters of recommendations (peers, colleagues, managers, or professors)


  • HIMSS Current/Advisory Board members
  • Relatives or a Relation to a HIMSS Board Member
  • Scholarship judges
  • Employees of HIMSS
  • Individuals in a consulting contract with or regarding HIMSS
